Tempting finger foods never fail to invigorate one’s appetite. Whether appetizers are being served in an event, a restaurant, or if you are serving it to your guests, one usually ends up eating more than he intends to.

Fried wontons come under the umbrella of Chinese dumplings. These heavenly wraps are crispier from outside and flavorful on the inside. It’s a divine smell, and appealing shape makes it very hard for a person to resist.

FILLINGS FOR FRIED WONTONS:

These bite-size wraps are so pleasing in taste due to its amazing filling. These crispy and savory fried wontons are full of flavor and are filled with either meat, seafood, or cream cheese.

These miniature size crispy finger food will make you crave for more. As the pun goes, “This appetizer will leave you WONTON more.”

Ingredients

1. Minced, boiled chicken - 1 lb or 4 cups

2. Ginger, grated - 1 tablespoon

3. Green onion, chopped - 1 stalk

4. Garlic cloves, minced - 2

5. Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon

6. Oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons

7. Finely chopped vegetables of your own choice - 2 cups

8. Egg - 1

9. Water - ½ cup

10. Defrost 50 wonton wrappers

11. Oil - for frying

Directions

1. Add all the above ingredients, i.e., from 1 to 7 in a large bowl.

2. You will need an egg wash for this recipe. To create an egg wash, mix water and egg and use a fork to whisk this mixture together.

3. It's time to wrap this miniature goodness. To wrap, set the wonton wrapper on your palm and add ½ tablespoon of filling (for beginners, start with 1 teaspoon of filling) in the center of the wrapper.

4. Apply egg wash on all the four edges of the wonton wrapper.

5. Fold the wrapper in a way that it creates a triangle. Seal the wrapper tightly and make sure there are no air bubbles.

6. To give these wontons a pretty shape, fold and seal in such a way that one corner of the triangle overlaps the other corner of the triangle. In short, join two triangle points together.

7. In a pan, deep fry wontons in heated oil until they turn golden brown.

8. Once fried, place them on to the tissue to drain off the excess oil.

9. Serve hot with barbeque sauce or chili garlic sauce.

STORE WONTONS WITHOUT HASSLE:

You can easily store wontons for later use. Freeze freshly made wontons by placing them flat on a plate. Use cling wrap to wrap the plate and then put it in the freezer. Avoid overcrowding of wontons on a plate.

Once they are frozen individually, you can store them in an airtight bag or container.
