However, pancakes are very easy to make, but the hunt for the perfect pancake recipe can be a little hectic. So, relax. I am sharing below a quick and easy recipe for you to devour.

Ingredients

“Pancakes made from this recipe are not too sweet, but you can add nuts, raisins, berries, or semi-sweet or dark chocolate into the batter to add additional sweetness.”

1. All-purpose flour (Maida) — 1 ½ cups
2. Sugar — 2 tablespoons
3. Baking powder — 1 tablespoon
4. Salt — ½ teaspoon
5. Milk — 1 ¼ cups
6. Egg — 1 large
7. Unsalted or salted butter — 4 tablespoons plus additional butter for cooking
8. Vanilla extract — 1 teaspoon

SUBSTITUTION OF INGREDIENTS THAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Instead of using baking powder, you can use sour milk or buttermilk with ¾ teaspoon of baking soda. To make sour milk at home mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar in 1 ¼ cup milk and keep it aside for 10 minutes.

2. You can use non-dairy or dairy milk.

3. Whole wheat flour can be used as a subsitiute of all-purpose flour. For that take equal amounts of whole wheat flour and buttermilk, i.e., 1 ½ cups, with ¾ teaspoon of baking soda replacing baking powder. This substitution is for those who have diabetes and for those who want to add additional fiber in their diet.

Directions

METHOD FOR MAKING PANCAKES:

1. First, mix all the dry ingredients i.e., salt, sugar, baking powder, and flour in a bowl.

2. Now add all the liquid ingredients, i.e. lukewarm milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.

3. Over medium heat, heat a large pan.

4. It is okay if your batter has small lumps. You should not over-mix the batter.

5. Lightly grease the surface with butter.

6. Pour batter into the pan by using ¼ measuring cup. Make a 4-inch circle by gently spreading the batter.

7. When you observe that the edges are dry and there are bubbles on the surface of the pancake, flip the pancake. Cook until one side of pancake turns into a light brown color.
